Happy New Year!... not for everyone

For the second time in recent months the UK has experienced extreme weather, where storms have created severe flooding and high winds have brought down trees, all causing damage, chaos and heartbreak.

One such emergency we dealt with over the Christmas break was to remove and make safe a tree that had fallen onto the roof and into the bedroom of a bungalow.

Initially we erected acro props to relieve the pressure on the roof and support the tree, before we started
work on safely dismantling the tree branch by branch.

Fallen treeMiraculously no one was hurt and surprisingly minimal damage was caused to the roof.
Unfortunately this wasn’t the case for many others around the country who experienced similar
situations.
We cannot fight against the forces of nature, but we can take reasonable precautions to reduce the
risk of trees falling in extreme weather events. A number of the emergency situations we dealt with
could have been prevented.
It's our duty to make sure that you are aware of the Owner's and Occupiers Liability Act, which
states that tree owners have a general duty of care to visitors (including trespassers). Whether
caused by decay, disease or external sources, such as adverse weather conditions, if a tree falls and
causes damage to people or property the owner is liable if it can be proven that they have been negligent.

We can't eliminate the risk of tree failure, but we can significantly reduce that risk by providingfallen trees
advice and maintenance for your tree that will help it to survive future storms.
We make it as easy as possible for you to have peace of mind by providing a free, no obligation,
initial consultation with a qualified tree inspector, who will listen to any concerns you may have
about your trees and advise on how they should be managed in the future.

So, the next time there's a storm, you will sleep easy knowing that you've taken all reasonable
precautions when it comes to your trees.
