Centenary Wood | Surrey

Planting trees at the Centenary Wood

The Woodland Trust is in the process of creating a Centenary Wood in Langley Vale, near Epsom, Surrey to mark 100 years since the First World War. This project is just one of four projects throughout the UK.

The plan is to plant 200,000 trees including Beech, Rowan, Hawthorn and Oak, as well as creating a stunning carpet of wildflowers.

Two new Först woodchippers strengthen fleet

Having been extremely pleased with the performance of the Först TR8 and ST6 woodchippers, which we purchased in March 2014 and March 2016 respectively, we have extended our fleet of woodchippers by an additional two.

The new ST8 Forst woodchippers will primarily be used in street tree situations, on roadside jobs and domestic and commercial properties.

Britain’s oldest tree is believed to be an ancient Yew that resides in a Welsh churchyard. It is estimated to be more than five thousand years old, which means it was planted 3000 years before Jesus Christ was born.

Not every churchyard has such an old specimen, but it’s not uncommon for churches to be the home of historical trees.
