Cycling raising funds for YMCA East Surrey

Raising funds for YMCA East Surrey

Early on 2nd of August 2018, 12 enthusiastic mountain bike riders left Minehead, West Somerset to cycle the iconic 125 mile Coast to Coast route through Exmoor, Dartmoor, with a plan to arrive 3 days later in Plymouth, Devon.

The event was organised by YMCA East Surrey to raise funds towards expanding their play and leisure schemes for children and young people with disabilities across four sites in East Surrey.

These short breaks help children with complex needs to learn new skills, gain confidence and have fun, whilst offering parents and siblings a vital break.

Connick Tree Care was delighted to sponsor the 2018 YMCA East Surrey, Coast to Coast, Mountain Bike Challenge.

Mike Connick, Managing Director said, “The Coast to Coast route is not for the faint hearted. We were fortunate to get through the three days without any incidents or mechanical failures. Our support team were fabulous. Always a welcome sight at tea breaks and lunchtime. They fed and watered us well, which kept our energy and spirits high.”

Ian Burks, Chief Executive at YMCA East Surrey said, “Our 2018 fundraising target is £100k. This is just one of the events we organise, which we hope will help us to reach our target. This money will enable us to offer 300 families in East Surrey an additional 1,040 days of short break provision throughout the year.”
