These surveys and reports are a standard requirement by local authority planning departments. Trees are an important material factor in the planning process. Reports are required where there are trees near to or on development sites. This ranges from permitted development such as a small extension or garden room to larger works such as demolition of existing properties and new build housing.

A BS5837 survey (Trees in relation to design, demolition and construction-Recommendations) and a Tree Constraints Plan (a scale drawing showing all relevant Arboricultural features within and adjacent to the site) produced prior to architects’ drawings can often prevents costly amendments and delay in the planning process. It is essential to consider trees at the start of a project.

Should a project already be underway, CTC have the capacity to complete the survey and reports to meet planning deadlines.

CTC are proud to state that we stay with a project from beginning to end. From the initial BS5837 Tree Survey, production of Tree Constraints Plan, the Arboricultural Impact Assessment, collaborating on producing Arboricultural Method Statements to Supervision, pre and during the construction phase. We are there to see a well-executed project succeed.

CTC carry out BS5837 work for architects, planners, developers and homeowners. We also undertake this work for local authorities when they are required. Producing these reports for their in-house development projects.

As a team we are ready for the new BS5837 (expected 2025), with survey software adaptable to meet the new requirements when they come.
