This type of survey and report is carried out to meet a clients duty of care and to guide them in managing their trees. They are frequently a requirement for insurance, particularly at schools, commercial premises and private housing estates. Any area with trees that has unrestricted access to the public, frequent use by people or has trees within a potential falling distance to properties should be assessed.
Your requirement may be for one of the following:
Assessment of a single tree – including assessments at height
A survey of all trees, reporting only on the recommendations or particular features of note (negative survey).
A survey of all trees with a full asset report detailing every tree on a particular site (tree inventory)
For each of the above reports an industry standard Visual Tree Assessment (VTA) is undertaken. The consultant will survey trees using their knowledge and experience to assess tree health, structure, overall condition whilst looking for anything of significance or concern. The survey data is then recorded electronically using dedicated Arboricultural software with bespoke survey templates. Tree locations are plotted using GPS. The software gives plotted features a number and when specified an ID tag is fixed to the tree.
A clear and concise report is then generated including the tree data, a map showing tree locations as well as a what3words location. Any recommendations in relation to health & safety or good Arboricultural management are included with a work recommended timeframe. We include long term recommendations which are particularly helpful for budget planning.
Our assessments and recommendations are completely impartial and independent from our contracting/arborist department. Our surveys record the condition of the trees and will only make recommendations where necessary to ensure ongoing tree safety or sound Arboricultural Management. The report can be shared with any reputable contractor for comparative quoting. This ensures contractors are all quoting for the same work specification.
The contracting department at Connick Tree Care are always happy to provide a competitive quote on request.
Qualifications and experience matter. Not only to receive the correct advice but also to meet your legal duty of care. An Arboricultural Consultant differs from an Arborist or tree surgeon and will have industry specific qualifications and experience. Assessments of trees undertaken by someone who is not a qualified consultant may not meet your legal requirements or duty of care should a tree related incident occur.
Connick Tree Care Consultancy carry out Health and Safety Tree Assessments for Individual Homeowners, Property Managers, Housing Associations, Businesses and Local Authorities. We are experienced in organising large scale contracts of this nature which cover multiple sites, and which may require GIS integration.
